Amid heavy criticism, Manchester United's out-of-form star Marcus Rashford received some valuable advice from Wayne Rooney.

A dramatic last-minute goal by Casemiro secured a 1-0 victory for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest in their FA Cup fixture on Thursday. This crucial goal propelled Manchester United into the quarterfinals, where they are set to face Liverpool. Casemiro headed in a low bouncing free-kick delivered by Bruno Fernandes, rescuing United from what could have been a disappointing outcome.

The match also saw Marcus Rashford facing significant criticism after stepping in for the injured Rasmus Hojlund up front. The English international struggled to make an impact and appeared largely invisible throughout the game.

In an interview with the BBC, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney offered some special advice to the struggling Rashford. "Marcus Rashford needs to be more ruthless, patient, and position himself in the middle of the goal. We all want to see more from him. Confidence plays a crucial role; given his inconsistent scoring this season, perhaps he needs to simplify his game to regain his form."

Rooney also emphasized the importance of United's senior players in supporting Rashford and getting the best out of him. "He's not the most vocal player, and his body language may not always reflect his true mindset. The senior players need to motivate him and ignite his passion," Rooney added.

Despite scoring 30 goals last season, Rashford has struggled to replicate that form this season, managing only five goals and six assists in 32 games across all competitions.

Reports suggest that Rashford's relationship with manager Erik ten Hag has soured, with the two reportedly not on speaking terms.

Reacting to United drawing Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals, Ten Hag stated, "Facing Liverpool at home is an exciting draw. However, our focus remains on the league. The upcoming game against City is our priority, and we are eagerly anticipating it."
