A Dynamic Aperture Camera That Redefines Mobile Photography
The most significant upgrade on the iPhone 18 Pro line is its camera system. Apple calls it the 'biggest camera improvement in years,' and the centerpiece is a 48-megapixel variable-aperture main camera. Unlike traditional smartphone cameras with a fixed aperture, this new sensor uses a six-blade aperture mechanism with blades 'thinner than a human hair.' This allows the camera to physically adjust the size of the opening through which light enters, much like a professional DSLR or mirrorless camera.
In darker environments, the aperture opens up to let in more light, enabling faster night mode captures with better quality.
